Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his family with service in the local community. At first, he was raised by Lucious Selmon and Jessie on their Eufala farm. He was the youngest of nine kids. On the football field, he competed with three of his brothers from Oklahoma. They were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman in the nation. In his three years as Oklahoma's first lineman The Sooners finished 33-1-1, and picked up two championships. Selmon received a third scholarship in 1975, and was named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. Then he settled in Tampa following college. He played with the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-time all-pro. The beginning of his business career came. When he was in the year 1988, he began working as an Account Relation Manager for First Florida Bank in Tampa. The bank was also a partner of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and for the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no doubt that he was named one of the top 10 young people in America from the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds when playing in the college football league. The year 1975 was the first time he was a leader of the team. He was named associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 in 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
